Anastasia Shkarina, General Counsel for B&W Unilever across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, met with UPPERCASE LEGAL to explore the evolution of legal services under the theme “The Future of Law: How Technology is Transforming Legal Delivery in the Industry.”

The discussion centred on the accelerating role of artificial intelligence in legal operations. Once viewed as an optional add-on, AI-driven solutions are now emerging as the backbone of modern legal infrastructure. Since 2024, an estimated 79% of legal-tech startup investments have been funnelled into AI technologies—signalling a decisive shift towards automation, predictive analytics, and generative AI as critical tools for strategic growth.

“Today’s clients expect more than legal advice,” Anastasia noted. “They demand transparency, speed, and measurable outcomes. Firms that embrace technology not only increase efficiency but align more closely with their clients’ business goals.”

The presentation showcased the rapid expansion of the legal tech market, with notable advancements in contract lifecycle management (CLM), workflow automation, knowledge management, and compliance—each enhanced by artificial intelligence. Anastasia stressed that, in an increasingly data-driven and tech-focused world, legal departments and firms must radically rethink their service delivery models to remain competitive.
